New Glass in U.S. Drops 30% After Storm

The American Glass Company, a division of the U.K.-based company Gilt Groupe, says it has cut its annual forecast for the U, U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization forecast to 7.2 billion pounds of glass.

The drop in demand was due to the effects of the storm, the company said.

Gilt’s forecast was for a 7.5 billion pound increase in demand in 2017. 

A report released Friday by the National Academy of Sciences says the impact of climate change is expected to be a $500 billion annual hit for the economy by 2070.

The report says the economy will be hit hardest by the effects on food security.
