The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has published a study which says that glass used in the glass window that is used in most cars in Australia is not the best glass material for windows.
The study, published in the journal Car Glass Journal, found that the average car window is 1.5 inches thick.
But this is only a small fraction of the glass in the world.
According to the study, glass is the most commonly used material in Australia for cars.
But it is also one of the most toxic.
The ABS said the study shows that glass should be considered for car window design.
“The use of glass for windows is a relatively new phenomenon and the use of new materials for windows has increased over the past few years,” Dr Chris Cates, a research associate at the ABS, said.
“This study found that many glass-based products, such as the window glass used by most Australian drivers, are not safe for use in cars.”
The ABS has conducted a range of studies in recent years to see what is causing glass in our cars to be so toxic.
Some of these studies showed that glass in a car window was being broken by the wind and heat.
Other studies showed a higher percentage of glass in cars was being damaged by water and other fluids.
Dr Cates said that in the future glass might be replaced with a new type of glass, which would be less toxic.
“Glass should be used for windows to provide a safer alternative to traditional materials, such, plastic or aluminium, which are more toxic to the environment,” he said.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has also come under fire for the way it has conducted its studies of car window glass.
In a report released last year, the ACCC found that car glass was “extremely expensive and difficult to produce”.
It found that while glass made from a variety of materials cost about $20 per cubic metre, the same glass made with a “softener” of a polymer would cost $4 per cubic meter.
“We’re seeing this trend with plastic, because it’s hard to make and expensive to produce,” Dr Cate said.
In the study conducted by the ABS in the US, the researchers found that glass made using a synthetic polymer was also toxic to humans.
The synthetic polymer is the same as the plastic used in many plastic bottles, but it is made from an anhydrous form of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose.
Dr Andrew Dickson, an associate professor at the University of Western Sydney’s School of Engineering, said the plastic produced from the synthetic polymer could also have a long shelf life.
“It’s a plastic that’s going to be used in a lot of different products over the years,” he told ABC Radio Perth.
“I suspect that if it’s made of a material that’s extremely toxic, we may see a lot more plastic in our future.”
Dr Dickson said that because of the fact that the synthetic plastic is cheap, it is likely that it will be cheaper to use other materials.
“A car window will never be a perfect glass, it’s got to be tempered, and it’s been tempered, so you’re going to have to use a lot less plastic than you’re used to,” he added.
In an interview with ABC Radio’s Breakfast program, Dr Dinson said the synthetic glass was only a very small part of the problem with the glass used on Australian cars.
“What we need to look at is that we need the rest of the materials to be made from the same type of material as that plastic bottle,” he explained.
“That plastic is being used in cars, and we’re going out and finding a way to produce that plastic in a safer way.”
The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACUTU) said the glass was a “serious problem”.
“It is the biggest barrier to improving Australia’s car environment,” ACUTU spokeswoman Alison Gorman said.
